Tahitian Pearl Nordic Pendant

  • Details
I have lovingly combined treasured Norse folklore of the birch tree (symbolizing new beginnings), with one of nature's rarest gifts - the beautiful Tahitian pearl. This pendant was created to showcase nature and my love of its beauty. I hand carved the branches of the birch, then fabricated the hollow, dimensional leaves and used 24k gold with sterling silver in a "marriage of metal" technique. The process involves heating the silver and fusing chunks of gold to the surface, then oxidizing the finished piece to reveal the contrast in the metals.

The gold I have used for this special pendant is Alaskan river gold - small pebbles of irregular shape that I arranged on the silver before I fused them together. This process results in unique, one-of-a-kind patterns of high value.

This pearl is a "peacock" pearl, about 10mm round from Tahiti's renowned pearl beds.

I hope you love this special piece!
