PInk and Violet Enamel Rose Window Pendant

Like a flower unfurling, this design reminded me of a fully open rose. I wanted to make a colorful pendant showcasing plique a jour enamels in bright, cheery colors. I also wanted to use a classic pattern that is often found in Norwegian filigree work, so instead of filigree, I created this in sterling silver, piercing out the design to leave open spaces that I then filled with the powdered glass. The piece is fired multiple times in a hot furnace, fusing the glass to create the signature stained glass window effect. Plique a jour means "light of day", and holding this up to the light reveals the beautiful, transparents rose, pink, violet and lime green colors.
