Violet Enamel Viking Fair Winds Pendant

DetailsLovely purple and violet glass enamels grace this champleve and cloisonne style pendant. I created the design based on the ancient Viking seafarers, who relied on fair winds for their journeys. The design is hand sawn from sheet silver, then soldered to a background sheet of silver. Tiny silver wires are added to the resulting "cells" and then I apply transparent powdered glass, which is fused under high temperatures in a furnace. This I gave the silver a soft satin sheen, so it highlights the design.
The back of the piece is a solid purple enamel color, as shown. -
