Gudbrandsdalen Viking Triskele Pendant

In the area of Gudbrandsdalen,Norway, the glorious moors, meadows and rolling hills show all the colors of greens in spring and summer. I distilled all these colors to create this enameled pendant, and combined it with the ancient Viking triskele symbol. My ancestors hailed from this area of Norway,and when I visit, there is a strong sense of belonging to this windswept, vast landscape. I created the piece in sterling silver, using two types of enamelwork - champleve and cloisonne, creating a modern adaptation of an ancient design motif. I apply the powdered glass in delicate layers, firiing each layer in a hot furnace to melt the glass. The resulting colors show a variety of rich greens, teal and yellow greens. The chain is sterling silver, and I oxidized it to reflect the vivid greens in the glass enamel, so it matches the piece perfectly!
