Sterling Silver Norwegian Stabbur Necklace

DetailsI custom made this sterling silver hollow formed pendant in the shape of a traditional Norwegian summer farm building, called a Stabbur. Built high off the ground and made of wood, the roof was usually a living thing, with grass, mosses and small shrubs growing off the top. You can still see many of these ancient buildings while on walking trails in the mountains, and they have a special charm. I adorned the roof of my wood-etched cabin with hand carved silver oak leaves. Oak trees are a symbol of long life and good luck in Scandinavia. This little charm necklace hangs on a 20 inch oxidized sterling silver chain.
